A luxury apartment building by Skanska USA in Tysons, Virginia - The approach to the art program began with the design of Heming for inspiration which included elements such as the architectural features, the materials used and light in the building. Whilst ensuring that the art is harmonious with the space, the program was curated to create an elegant art experience for residents of this building, in which there was a cohesive narrative as one walks through the the various spaces in Heming. The color palette was deliberatly narrow to achieve a sophisticated simplicity which then serves to draw the viewers attention to the other aspects of the artwork such as the techniques, materials and forms used by the artists. The canvases and the space that the art occupies on surfaces are minimal, and yet juxtaposing this simplicity are layers and textures - not only in a physical sense but in how one experiences the form and the movement of the works.
