Richard Unglik
Reproducing masterpieces of history with the renowned Playmobil toys has become the passion of French photographer and artist, Richard Unglik.
Playmobil and Unglik were both products of the 70’s. They now form a terrific duo! After studying photography and cinema in Paris, Unglik imaged a book to tell the World History, illustrated by Playmobil figures. At the same time, he discovered a new tool for artistic creation: The design and computer-aided image. Thus a crazy idea was born. The adventure began.
Unglik has also photographed these little plastic characters, accessories, and decors to re-create album or magazines covers, movie posters, famous paintings, and scenes from the Bible. From Mona Lisa’s portrait to Bruce Springsteen’s album cover, Unglik finds the perfect Playmobil person and outfit for every role. Together, they take on the most well-known painters and sculptors, the most memorable movies, and the musicians who guided our youth. Since his first photography’s exhibition in Paris in 2011, Richard has participated in several events in France, England, Germany, and Switzerland. He exhibited for the first time in the United States in 2015.
