Jessie Laura

Influenced by the contrast of nature and architectural structures, her mixed media work features geometric and organic shapes that create depth, texture, and movement. Furthermore, abstraction through form, light, and shadow allows her to respond to and engage with contempo-rary culture’s onslaught of visual imagery.

Working primarily with wood and paper, her recent work reflects her interaction with the city and nature. Jessie collects impressions from busy streets and panoramic views of open landscapes and conveys them through mixed media. Her process demands observation and meticulous material manipulation. Jessie uses clarity and simplicity as her visual language to generate the maximum effect on the viewer with minimal media.
